NORTHYARDS CIDER.CO BOUGHT A NEW ORCHARD
Squamish, March 12th, 2021, with the growing demand for Northyards Cider Co. around British Columbia, and the desire to diversify and expand production, Northyards Cider Co. recently purchased the historic Hanna and Hanna Orchard in Salmon Arm, B.C. The entire team is absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to build on the Hanna’s history while bringing a new vision to light for the property.
Established in Squamish in 2018, Northyards Cider Co. has been producing and serving authentic craft ciders in a tasting room located in the industrial park. With this exciting orchard acquisition and the plan to open the Salmon Arm location in Spring, Northyards Cider Co. is announcing the closure of the Squamish location as of April 4th, 2021. “We are extremely grateful to the Squamish community who have supported us since the beginning of this truly incredible adventure. We would like to thank everyone for their continuous encouragement and for making our tasting room a wonderful place for gathering with friends” says Kathleen van der Ree, proud owner. In addition, the team would like to thank all retailers and partners for their enthusiasm in showcasing this local product.
The Hanna and Hanna Orchard is a beautiful family-owned farm founded in 1907 and is a celebrated amenity in the Salmon Arm community. With more than 6500 apple trees, there is an astounding selection of 32 apple varieties on the orchard, many of them are dessert apples along with some heirloom cider varieties. “The selection of apples is so exciting as it will allow us to expand, diversify and deepen our cider complexity” says Alison Round, Head Cider Maker.
The Squamish tasting room will remain open Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 9pm and Sundays from 12pm to 6pm up to the closing day. This way, everyone can stock up on canned cider, fill up growlers, or enjoy the beautiful space. To mark the occasion, 25% discount will be applied on all merchandise. It is also important to the owners that all varieties of ciders stay available in the Sea to Sky area. Therefore, the ciders will still be distributed in BC Liquor and independent stores as well as local restaurants & bars. A list of all cider merchants from Pemberton to the Lower Mainland can be found on the website: northyardsciders.com.
The opening of the Salmon Arm tasting room and product availability in the Okanagan will be announced shortly. To stay connected and informed of the Cider Maker’s new creations and latest developments, follow Northyards Cider Co. on social media.
